Africa is at the heart of @ AE Harris. It is a blacked out space with semi-sprung wooden floor. It has double Fire Exit doors out into the courtyard and double width sliding doors into both Asia and Africa. It is possible to look down into this space from Europe if black-out curtains are removed.
Africa is the home of the venue's 3-phase power and its metal
roof joists allow lights to be rigged with relative ease.
Of all the
venue's spaces this is the one which most readily lends itself to conventional
end on theatrical performance, it is in essence a studio theatre space.
BE Festival squeezed in an audience of 150. For Pilot Night it worked well
with cabaret seating. It is our party room of choice.
