Inferno Kid Trailer
Monday, February 11th, 2013The Inferno Kid is BACK
Saturday, February 2nd, 2013The Inferno Kid was once professional wrestling’s brightest star – a risk-taking daredevil both inside the ring and out. Today he is disabled, destitute and all but forgotten by the wrestling world. He is only 36. Now the living room of his wife’s council flat provides a fitting venue for one final showdown – this time, with the demons of his past. But with his mind and his marriage on the line is this a match The Inferno Kid can win?
We’re delighted to welcome Alex Brockie back to @ A E Harris on 9th March with this great show. We feel a special connection with it as a section was tried out in the venue as part of a Pilot Night a couple of years ago.
Matt & Pete’s Photo School
Friday, February 1st, 2013We are delighted to welcome long time friend of @ A E Harris Pete Ashton to the venue with his colleague Matt Murtagh to run a photography workshop focusing on long exposure techniques on 19th March 7pm – 9pm.
Proof there is always something new and interesting happening @ A E Harris.
Fusion Performance
Saturday, January 19th, 2013Fusion, the first performance of 2013 @ A E Harris is this coming Friday 25th, led by Heather Heighway. It is a coming together of music and visual art/performance. Pieces of music by Holst, Walton, Britten, Emmerson, McCartney & Davis and Daniel-Lewis Fardon have inspired works by visual artist Rose Jennings and video artist Tara Roleson which can be viewed in a gallery at the start of the evening (from 18:00). These objects are used as key elements in performances which are accompanied by the music which is sung and played live (from 19:00)
It is an exciting collaboration which promises some quality performances. Tickets are £7.50 or £5.00 at the concession rate. The bar will be open serving both HOT and cold drinks.
Dzama Stories
Monday, November 19th, 2012On Thursday we host Decibel, who are joined by saxophonist Paul Dunmall to perform Ed Bennett’s Dzama Stories. It’s our second jazzy evening, coming approximately a year on from The Necks and Harold Budd’s appearance at the venue. This time there is a ten piece band on stage and there is a mixture of pre-composed and improvised music. Very reasonably priced ickets are available here.
Close Shave
Tuesday, November 13th, 2012Reckless Sleepers
Tuesday, October 30th, 2012It was an exciting day today as Reckless Sleepers started building the box of tricks for their Schrodinger show. Reckless Sleepers and Stan’s Cafe are close contemporaries, we’re delighted they have made the commitment to bring one of their most famous shows to Birmingham, we hope a good crowd turns out for this rare opportunity to catch it.
Reasons to be Cheerful
Friday, October 5th, 2012The lure of The Merchant of Venice here next week will be strong, but for anyone wavering undecided, comes news to clinch the deal – we now have hand towel dispensers in the toilets and new taps AND new toilet roll holders (though we’re not bragging so much about these, as they’re not too compatible with our high grade toilet roll (we may have to step down a ply or two)). Come and enjoy the theatre: come and enjoy a whole new washroom experience.
Invasion Coming To An End
Friday, September 28th, 2012It’s upsetting how readily and regularly artists are inspired to locate visions of a post-apocalypse world in our beloved venue, but there’s no accounting for such leaps of the imagination. This camp is part of the group exhibition Invasion which finishes on Sunday. It’s well worth seeing. There is a great range of work by 39 artists, including Stan’s Cafe collaborator Ana Rutter.
